The Perfect SEO Title Length (And Why It Still Matters in 2026)

Google still truncates titles around 580 pixels — roughly 50 to 60 characters. Here's how to write inside that budget without sounding stiff.

If your titles get cut off in search results, you're leaving clicks on the table. Google's title display budget is roughly 580 pixels — that translates to about 50 to 60 characters in most fonts.

The fix isn't to count obsessively. It's to front-load the important words. Put your primary keyword and the strongest benefit in the first 40 characters. Anything truncated after that is a bonus, not the message.

A simple test: read only the first half of your title. Does it still make someone want to click? If yes, you're in good shape. If not, rewrite.

TitleBoost flags every suggestion as Too short, Good length, or Too long so you don't have to eyeball it. Aim for the green badge most of the time, but don't sacrifice clarity for the sake of hitting 58 characters exactly.
